Travel Plans for Northern Italy (possibly Slovenia)

My husband and I traveled to Italy for our Honeymoon many years ago and we are coming up on our our 10 year anniversary next year. I'd like to plan a trop to Italy to mark the occasion and see some things we didn't see the last time around. We would need to travel in the summertime due to work.

My husband loves the mountains and I love the sea. We are both fans of good food and culture. Any suggestions for major sites to see in Northern Italy in a 2 week trip? I'd also love to fit in a side trip to Slovenia if possible. We visited northern Croatia a few years ago and had to cut it from that trip.

Previously we have visited Rome, Florence and Venice. I'd love to see the Dolomites and possibly Cinque Terre (but I know it gets crazy crowded)

Any thoughts?

The Dolomites will definitely be very busy in the summer. If you want to avoid the craziness, consider visiting other parts of South Tyrol which are surrounded by amazing mountains. We really enjoy the Merano and Val Venosta (also called Vinschgau) holiday regions. https://www.vinschgau.net/en/welcome.html They offer a wonderful blend of adventure and culture. Plus, you can still visit the Dolomites if you wish. Destinations like Alpe di Siusi are under an hour away.
