Looking to drive north outside of Rome and wondering what towns are interesting or worth visiting.
For a day trip? Or to spend more time, stay?
We need more info. Any particular reason you want to drive as opposed to train? What time of year are you going? What interests you? Do you have a decent guidebook?
This is Italy you're talking about. Do you have a compelling reason for wanting to drive? If heading to a rural area for several days, that's one thing. For a casual jaunt, not so much.
We are trying to avoid the crowds in Rome. This will be our second visit to Rome so we have visited the main tourist sites. We will be there the weekend of August 3 and 4, leaving on Monday morning.
We can stay overnight or go for the day. Thought of Asisi but wondered if we should look at other areas.
Maybe one of the lakes, Bracciano or Bolsena. If you are going to a city, then I would take a train.
Assisi is good and so is Orvieto. I don’t think you could go wrong with either choice.
