Travel options - From Rome to Florence or Sienna

Greetings to all,
We are planning a trip to Tuscay this April, and would like to take either the train, Bus, or hire a private driver from the Airport
in Rome to either of these cities.

Which is easiest ? Any suggestions? We do not want to drive in Italy.

Thanks
Nate

We traveled between these cities by train. No need for a car if you don’t want to drive. From the Rome FCO airport there is a direct train to Florence twice a day.

Rome to Florence is an easy train ride. You can see time options at their website: www.trenitalia.com. Rome is “Roma”, and Florence is “Firenze”. I see it’s about 90 minutes. Florence to Siena is easier by bus because it will arrive inside the town near the Campo. The bus station in Florence is next to the S.M. Novella train station - easy connections.

We’ve been to Italy five times, traveling all over (north of Rome), and we’ve never rented a car. The trains and occasional bus have been great transportation for us and very relaxing.
