I undersatnd May 1, Labor Day, is a big holiday. Would we have trouble getting ground transportation from airport to hotel/apartment in Rome or Venice on Labor Day next year? Is it better to pick a different arrival day? Thanks!

I traveled using train and taxi last year on May 1st without any issues.

Trains and buses will be on festival schedules. The Leonardo Express still maintains it's schedule but all other forms of public transportation will be impacted. Due to the huge concert at San Giovanni, that metro stop is closed after about 12 noon for the day. Buses will be quite infrequent in the AM.
