Travel MXP to Milan

I am arriving on a Sunday morning to MXP, picking up a rental car to drive to Turin - I will be in Turin for the week. Before going to Turin on Sunday, I wanted to drive to downtown Milan.

Due to parking and traffic, I read in Steve's book, it might be better to drive to Cascina Gobba and take the train into downtown Milan.

what do you think? and is Cascina Gobba the best stop if I plan to drive onto Turin after Milan?

thanks in advance for your input.

No! Don't do it. Cascina Gobba is not at all convenient if you are coming from Malpensa.

Go to this parking lot below and take the Metro from here:

Unless you want to take the Malpensa Express train into Milan (Cadorna Station) and go back to the airport with the same train later and pick up the car later from the airport.

Now I have a question. Is the luggage going to be left in the car? Lampugnano Car Park is a large pay car park monitored by cameras, however leaving stuff in the car (even in the trunk) while the car is parked is risky everywhere in the world (including the US). At least take all valuables with you.

Many here consider it unsafe to drive after a transatlantic flight due to possible jet lag.

Have you considered taking the train to Turin?

Why are you driving? A Train from MXP to Milan and then from Milan to Turin would be faster than driving. Especially because the high speed trains go from Milan to Turin in 50 minutes. It would be also safer, since you're thinking of leaving your luggage in the trunk in a public parking.

In Turin You'll pay to leave the car parked somewhere under the city center, the all historic area is a ZTL.

MXP is halfway between Turin and Milan, there is a direct bus from MXP to Turin's center.

Actually it's a bus you should take from Malpensa to Turin. There is a direct bus from the airport to Porta Susa in Turin.

Why do you have a rental car for Turin ? Are you going into the Langhe ?
