Travel money card

Hi

Any suggestions for a Money travel card, although i think mostly all similar.

Thank you.

Well, the best is an ATM card from your bank, hopefully with no out of network fees or Foreign Transaction Fees (FTF), if you want to get some cash.

Most of the time though, a credit card with no FTF, Visa or Mastercard, is the best option, accepted everywhere, even for small purchases.

If you are speaking of the prepaid type cards, forget those, for most they offer no value, you pay to put money on them, pay to get the money from them, pay conversion fees, and if money is left over, pay to get it back. There are maybe a few circumstances they make sense, but not for the typical adult traveler.

I use Wise, which is similar to a bank account, and you can have different currency accounts within it, if you are travelling to multiple destinations. Can also be used on home turf.

We use Wise cards as well. The option for multiple currencies was useful on our recent trip to England and the Netherlands. I like using it for tapping on transportation as one example as it is preferable to me versus my phone or regular credit card (in case I drop one of them etc).

read the conditions very carefully if you still consider one of those cards. Check that they can be used in Europe, and in all the countries you are visiting. Many cannot be used in Europe.

I plan to use the Charles Schwab investor checking account VISA platinum debit card to access cash at bank ATMs while in Italy in September. Used it in December several times at bank ATMs in the Philippines without any issues. Schwab conversion rates were very reasonable and they rebate the ATM fees. You're required to open an investor brokerage account to get the checking account. But, there isn't any requirement to fund the brokerage account and Schwab hasn't notified me otherwise. I setup EFT to fund the account and used it locally a couple times to confirm it worked before departing.
