It is late fall, close to winter so the scenery will not be same as earlier in the year. The grapes will have been picked and the fields stripped, trees will have dropped most of their leaves, as the area gets ready for winter. You will encounter cloudy to cool and even chilly weather and maybe a little rainy. The days will be much shorter with weak sunlight as the shortest day of the year approaches. Tourist sites may have shorter hours. On the other hand tourists will be fewer. Should not encounter any snow so driving would be about the same as any other time of the year. Should consider flying into Milan and home from Rome. Cheaper and more efficient.
