We are doing a Rick Steves tour of Sicily the end of April; we are arriving two days early. If our Delta flight is cancelled and we don't make the tour, it appears travel insurance will not reimburse for the cost of the tour. Is that correct? Thank-you!
Of course no one here can tell you what your travel insurance will or will not cover without reading your actual policy.
With a two day cushion at the front of your tour, a flight cancellation shouldn’t throw things off too badly. You will be rerouted on another flight. You will probably make it without too much trouble. I had a flight cancelled on the day of my departure to a RS tour a few years ago. I took a little longer re-routing on the way there, but ended up arriving just a few hours later than originally planned.
Even so, say in a worse case scenario it took three days to get to your tour. You just join the tour one day late. Not ideal, but also not a reason to cancel the entire trip.
You can be proactive by signing up for flight alerts for your airline.
