Travel insurance recommendations

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to weigh in on travel insurance companies that recommend?

I have used RoamRight several times. I even had a small claim once. I have always been happy with them. Take a look at www.insuremytrip.com to compare several companies.

A friend has made several claims with Travelguard over the years, and got his reimbursement with no undue hassle (they wanted the appropriate medical paperwork, but then paid as promised). So, he recommends them. I have no personal experience actually making claims.

Travel Guard has paid our three claims 100% and in a short period of time.

Very satisfied with the manner in which Travel Guard handled our claim.

We tried "Seven Corners" for an extended trip. We unfortunately had claims, and they were difficult to the point of total frustration. EVENTUALLY, we received token payments. I would NOT consider them again, ever, for anything.

Travel Guard denied our theft claim and our appeal so they are on my don’t use list. All they did was twist four different clauses to their advantage and had no empathy when we talked to them.
For my upcoming trip I bought John Hancock travel insurance. Higher rated than some on insuremytrip.com. Goal is to have no claims but if I do I will let the forum know about the outcome.

The one that you get through Expedia is fabulous. I fell and broke my wrist in an out of the way place in Italy. They took care of everything: rebooking my flights, arranging for assistance at the airports on the flight home, even an upgrade to be able to fly business class. I submitted my expenses for unused nights at hotels and they reimbursed everything and paid the emergency room bill.
