Has anyone travelled in Venice since the most recent flooding. Are things back to "normal". What was your Venice experience like due to this? Did you stay in Venice? Were any extra precautions necessary due to the flooding?
The flooding that occurs occasionally in Venice is not something that's a surprise to Venetians. They are prepared for it and the city is usually back to normal just a few hours after the floodwaters recede. Absolutely stay in Venice. And don't worry about flooding. Happy travels.
Most recent flooding? As far as I know the last acqua alta was in mid-February. Things generally get back to "normal" in Venice within a day after an acqua alta. It happens all the time (late fall through winter) and they are very good at dealing with it. You can see the three-day forecast here: http://www.veniceforyou.com/highwaterprev.html 90 cm is the definining point for acqua alta. You will see that the highest it will reach the next few days is 50 cm.
I am curious---what is your concern?
I was in Venice last month and saw no evidence that there had been any floods. It comes with the territory at Acqua Alta season.
I was in Venice last month and there was water lapping into the atrium of St Mark's Basilica on a couple of rainy days, but it's really not much of a problem. You just walk on the Acqua Alta "tables" where there are puddles, and go on about your business.
No flooding here in Venice today. :-)
