A friend and I are planning a trip to Italy for March or April. I have been to Italy a number of times but my friend has never been there. The trip would include a week in Tuscany and Umbria and a week in Rome. We would like to go to Siena and then to some other towns that would be very interesting to see, but not necessarily big tourist destinations. We would be using trains and buses between cities. What places would be worth going to? We are interested in history, art, food and most of all going to off the beaten track places that are hidden gems. For example, I did some research and found out about Civita di Bagnoregio and that will be a definite stop on this trip. We want to see how the people live and learn about the specialities in the places we go to. I hope that makes my last posted question more specific. Thanks to everyone who responded. Beth
