Travel in Spring of 2026 Venice to Zermatt.

In the past I have followed advice on purchasing tickets Zermatt to Venice via the SBB site. All based on the exceptional advice from posted here. However, the current SBB site indicates only two train departures for Venice to Zermatt for May dates. Is it too early for complete listings? Will earlier Venice departures be available via SBB ? Is the only option to buy via Trenitalia to Domodossola, Brig, or Visp then use SBB for the Swiss trains? Being elderly I prefer minimum transfers and a Milano seems to be intimidating. What is preferred routing ? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I would say that it is too early for complete listings. In addition, there is often
a schedule overhaul late in the year, so any departures already listed are subject
to changes.

SBB can't show the Italian connecting trains because they have not been fully scheduled yet. Look after December 14.

Shoeflyer and Sam thank you for this information. I was not aware scheduled routing changes. We must leave Venice before noon, for an earlier arrival in Zermatt for an appointment.

SBB already has the full schedule on line for the trains it operates. So that means that it can give you solutions for Spring 2026, because it actually runs several trains per day all the way to Venice.

Once the Italian schedules become available SBB will start selling tickets for those trains as well, and will offer more departures. Anyway, there is no rush. You can expect there to be trains, and you can safely wait till about April with booking...
