Travel from Vernazza north

Is it faster to go fro Vernazza to La Spezia and then to Genoa? or to go from Vernazza to Sestri Levante and then Genoa? I've heard to local train is quite slow?

You can take the local north to Monterosso al Mare or Levanto, and change there to the IC train that runs from La Spezia to Genoa (but doesn't stop in the Cinque Terre villages).

More trains stop at Monterosso than stop at any of the other 4 CT towns. Riomaggiore is 2nd in number of stops. However, there are a few Regionale trains that will take you from Vernazza to Genoa without a train change. Two early ones that I see depart Vernazza at 06:01 and 07:32. Here's a link for you to view the schedule. http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/nppPriceTravelSolutions.do?car=0&stazin=vernazza&stazout=genoa&datag=27&datam=05&dataa=2011&timsh=06&stazin_r=Staz_DA&stazout_r=Staz_A&timsm=46&timsm_r=46&lang=en&nreq=5&channel=tcom&npag=1&lang_r=en&nreq_r=5&channel_r=tcom&npag_r=1&x=35&y=14
