Travel from Venice to Marco Polo Airport

We will be in Venice this June. We are 5 adults with 10 pieces of luggage. We arrive by train but have to get to Marco Polo airport at 8 am for our flight home leaving at 10:55am. What is the best transport to take? I understand water taxis are available. Are they large enough for our party and luggage? Also where do you get the taxi and are they reliable? We've had one scare already in Paris with a limo that was so late to pick us up that we almost missed our flight home. Are limos available and are they reliable? Thanks.

Where in Venice are you staying? Unless it is by Piazzale Roma, only water born transport is available.
In my limited experience, water taxis are very reliable if booked in advance, and would be ideal to handle 5 people and 10 pieces of luggage. It would take you to the airport dock in about 30 minutes, which is ASAP in Venice. Book it in advance, through your hotel, or at one of the websites like this one: http://www.motoscafivenezia.it/eng/
My one proviso is that occasionally, due to tidal conditions, the water taxi may not be able to get to your hotel if it is in the interior of Venice. If water is too high, it can't get under bridges, or if too low, the canal is not deep enough. The water taxi operator will know this and could inform you of altering the time, or a nearby alternate pick up location.
At the airport dock, it is still another 600 yds to the airport entrance door.

Have your hotel book a private water taxi. We used one to get from the airport to our hotel and then another one from our hotel to Piazzale Roma. It was a very easy experience. I would not attempt to use a vaporetto because June is high season and I understand there is often standing room only on the vaporettos and it might be difficult to find room for all of your luggage. The cost of the private water taxi split amongst all 5 adults would make the individual cost very reasonable and it will be a lot less hectic than trying to squeeze everyone and all the luggage onto a vaporetto not to mention a private water taxi is much faster.

For the number of people and amount of luggage a water taxi appears to be your best bet.
The Vaporetto is 15euro per person plus you are charged for extra luggage. It is a 1 1/2 hour trip to Marco Polo.
Taxi is 120euro for all of you and it is a half hour trip. Bon Voyage!!

As a general rule we shy away from water taxies due to the high cost. However, with the amount of luggage you have a water taxi would (imo) be the only way to go. I haven't compared the cost of using a vap. and bus / land taxi option, but I'd bet it will be close enough to justify the convenience of the water taxi.
