I need some advice on traveling from Tuscany to Rome for our flight home. Should I drop off our rental car at the train station in Florence (closest station to where we're staying) and take the train in, or just drive straight to the airport in Rome? I'm wondering how the options compare in terms of cost, time, and stress. I'll be traveling with my husband and 7 year-old.

Can you please clarify your plans so that people will be able to provide better answers? Do you plan to spend time in Rome prior to your departure day, or are you trying to go from Tuscany (near Florence I gather) to Rome airport on your day of departure? If going on your departure day, what time is your flight? Your options may be limited by your plans.
