Travel from the Cinque Terre to Milan for flight

We will be spending 3 days in the CT and will be leaving Riomaggiore on a Monday morning to catch a flight out of Milan mid-day.
Looking for suggestions on the best way to make that trip.

Thanks to everyone in advance! You've always been very helpful! - Kevin

Take the train. But it might be a very early morning, depending a bit on when your flight departs, where you are going and from which airport.

My guess is if you try that, you very well may end up on a very pricey flight on Tuesday

What is "mid-day"?

Where does the flight from Milan go?

Getting up around 3:30 to catch a 5:15 train sounds gruesome.

We are flying to Paris from Milan. Right now I'm looking at either a 1pm or 3:20p departure so as to have enough time for all the lines and processes...
Another thought is flying out of Florence if it works better.

You may also want to look at flying out of Pisa. It’s not too far from CT. Good luck!

You can also take the train all the way to Paris. Will probably take around the same time as flying and be a bit cheaper and less hassle.

Kevin, I did this a few years ago. I was staying in Levanto and took an early train out and made it to Milan and the airport in plenty of time. Sure, there's always some risk of a train delay, and I wouldn't cut it too close, but chances are, you'll be fine. I took the train fisrt to Milano Centrale and from there the train on to the airport. (I got a direct train from Levanto. I think major trains will stop in Riomaggiore too, otherwise you'll have to take a local train to Levanto or Monterosso or something. Some trains may change in Genoa.

Just go to the Trenitalia website and see what the train options are.

Always have a backup plan in case of a delay. What happens if you miss the flight? Do you have trip delay insurance? What would the cost of a flight the next day be - would that mess up the rest of your trip?

Flying from Genoa may be an option

A 3:20 flight from Milan I would consider; a 1:10 has only the slimmest margin for an 'oops'.

You may be more daring (optimistic?) than I am.

Enjoy your travels

If you fly out of Milan, hopefully you'll get a non-stop back to the U.S.

The next busiest airport in Northern Italy is Pisa. You'd take the short local train a short distance into LaSpezia and then a 50 mile train ride into Pisa. Pisa Airport flies to other major gateway airports all over Europe where you could fly non-stop back to the U.S.
