We will be travelling in September. I would like to know the quickest and most direct route from the Amalfi coast to Bari, preferably by train. We do not want stay overnight in Bari, but take the ferry directly to Dubrovnik. I understand that the ferry goes overnight to Croatia.

You can find train schedules at trenitalia.com. If you're staying in Sorrento, you'd take the train from Naples to Bari. If you're staying in Positano, you'd take the train from Salerno to Bari. You're looking at a 5-6 hour trip either way. The ferry from Bari to Dubrovnik is an overnighter. It departs Bari at 10:00 PM. So you do have all day to get to Bari.
