I'll be in Sorrento in May and plan to depart from Naples Airport on an international flight (Air France) that leaves at 12:30pm. How should I get to the airport? Rick recommends the Curreri bus which leaves Sorrento at 6:30am or 8:30am and takes 90 minutes. BUT Curreri says you need to leave Sorrento 5 hours before the flight (and there is no 7:30am bus). Does anyone have experience with this bus? Would the 8:30am bus work or are there sometimes traffic jams? Are there other options for getting to the airport besides the bus? Hydrofoil from Sorrento to Naples and then a bus to the airport?

I would stay in Naples night before flight
Airport is a quick taxi in the am
You should be at airport by 9:30
Traffic/transportation is just too chaotic and unpredictable in that area
Or take the 6:30 bus
Or hire a driver -probably 150E range? Leave Sorrento 7:30 am

The 5 hr is their "CYA" clause.
Presumably your flight lands in Paris? If so, you need be at NAP 2 hrs before flight time. The 830 bus gets you there around 10:00, giving you 2+ hrs to drop checked bags, go through security and get to the gate.
google maps shows a weekday morning trip in May taking 55-80 minutes.
If the flight from Naples goes to a non-Schengen destination then the customary 3 hrs before flight would be the recommended time to be at the airport, necessitating an earlier bus.

Thank you ChristineH. I see that Alilaura has a hydrofoil that leaves Sorrento at 8:15am, arrives Naples at 9am, and I could take a taxi from there to the airport, probably be there by 9:30am, still 3 hours ahead of flight. What do you think?
Joe32F I agree that 5 hrs is a CYA, but I guess traffic is unpredictable, an advantage of the hydrofoil.

If the weather is bad, the boats may not run.
The infrastructure is so neglected in the Sorrento/AC area that there is no reliable, quick mode of transportation. I would also highly recommend being in Naples the night before your flight.
We used Aldo Limos when we were in the area, very professional and comfortable, but again, they deal with the same traffic congestion.
