We ( 4 people) have an early flight from Naples airport and we are staying close to Sorrento. What would be our best transit option? Is it easy and reliable to arrange for taxi in sorrento and how much would it normally cost.

The Curreri Viaggi operates a bus from Sorrento to the Airport, but the first one would get you to the airport at 8:30am, not sure if that is sufficiently early. The cost would be €10 p.p. and the bus ride is 75 min long.
Alternatively you can book a private car transfer (Noleggio Con Conducente=Car hire with driver), basically a limo service. There are many companies offering that service (just Goggle NCC Sorrento Aeroporto Capodichino). The cost for four people is in the €90 to €100 range. The car ride is about one hour long.

I would either take a taxi or hire a car service. I would plan on about 100 euros give or take. Your hotel could arrange a taxi for you the day before you leave. I trust the hotel to book me a taxi that will come and I know the price up front. Or for about the same cost book a car service.
