My wife and I wish to travel to Florence from the b & b that we will be staying at just outside of Sienna. We will be in this location for four days in mid-September. We will have a rental car but rather than driving to Florence to spend a day there, we thought taking a bus or train might be a better option. Suggestions / Recommendations?

You can take the regular train service from Siena train station located at the bottom of the town

or you can take a bus from the town.

Both terminate and leave at the same place Florence Santa Maria Novella train station.

Very easy to do by train -- BTW you will LOVE Sienna!! Especially in the evening :).. Spend time on the piazza before and after dinner!!! Such a family oriented little place... If you train it in, no need to worry about drive into in the ZTL zone and paying fines...
