After reading the old postings on travel from Siena to Sorrento /Positano, it appears to be about a 7.5 journey because of stops/changing trains etc. We are renting a car and staying in an agriturisimo outside of Siena. I thought that we would return the car there and take a train south. Is it quicker to drive to Sorrento than train? any suggestios?

By train (eurostar) it takes 3 hours to go from Florence to Naples. I seem to recall that Siena is less then an hour bus ride to Florence. It is about an hour by train from Naples to Sorrento. You are looking at about 5 hours travel time. I have never driven from Siena to Sorrento but I am guessing that driving will take longer then 5 hours.
