Travel from Sicily to Mallorca

We will be taking a Rick Steves tour of Sicily and would like to do a 3 or 4 day post tour trip to Mallorca. Does anyone have any recommendations on easiest way to get there . I do not find Mallorca listed in the RS Spain book.

Would anyone have any other recommendations of a place to go for a few days instead of Mallorca. We are just looking for a place to unwind and see beauty. We have been told by an avid traveler of the world that Mallorca was probably the most beautiful place they had been. We want something that would be an easy get to...not days of travel.

How do most people get to Palma...via Rome or Milan or is there another/better option?

We are just in the planning stages and would do this add on at the end of Sept.

Any input appreciated.

Where does your tour end in Sicily? You can check Rome2Rio.com for ideas. From Palermo to Palma, it's about a five-hour flight-train-bus trip.

I would consider staying in Sicily that is not covered on the tour, or spend the days elsewhere in Italy.

No direct flights from Sicily airports to PMI.
You have to change planes somewhere (many choices).
However unless you have seen everything else in Europe, I do t know if I would bother with Mallorca coming from Sicily. Sicily has plenty of beautiful spots if you are interested in a beach getaway.

The tour begins and ends very near Palermo, Sicily. So my question was wrong and restated is what is the best option for getting into Palermo...would it be Rome or Milan?

Many thanks.

If you are flying from the USA to Palermo, you may need more than one flight connection and Rome is a common transfer point.

The tour group only spends a short time at the last destination, Cefalu, which is an ideal spot to add another day and night of relaxation.

In addition to options on the island of Sicily, it would be possible to visit a smaller, neighboring island like Lipari. Ferries do run at the end of September, but can be delayed by high winds, necessitating some schedule flexibility. I would not be inclined to fly to Spain or any other country. The shortest and most frequent onward flights would be to other Italian cities.

Coming from the US, your best (and often only) option is via Rome (FCO) with Alitalia (code share partner with Delta/Air France).

Most flights from/to PMO are low cost European carriers (e.g. Vueling, Volotea, EasyJet) that don't fly across the pond.
