Travel from Rome Airport ( FIUMICINO)

Although we have been to Rome before, we have never flown into the Fiumicno airport. Can anyone give me info regarding how to travel by train:
(1) From the Fiumicino Airport to the main train terminal in Rome
(2) From the main train terminal in Rome to Civitavecchia, Italy
(3) From Civitavecchia, Italy to the Fiumicino Airport.

Any information/tips you can provide for any of these destinations would be very helpful. Thanks.

After you exit customs with your luggage follow the signs to Roma. As soon as you exit start looking for the FS signs to Roma. You will need to take an elevator and head toward Terminal C. When you approach the tracks you want the Leonardo Express to Roma and Stazione Terminale. You can buy tickets for 11 euro, I think, from the ticket window or the news stand. Generally, the news stand is faster. There are only 2 tracks and the track to Roma is on the righ.

Buon viaggio

The above is accurate for getting into Rome. The train from Termini to Civit... is a commuter run -- about three or four trains an hour taking from 45 mins to 1:15 depending on the train. Leaves from tracks 23 and 24 (I think these are right). It is long walk to these tracks that are in the very far right hand corner of the station as you face the tracks. If your cruise ship is returning to Rome be sure to buy RT tickets. The line to buy tickets in Civit can be impossibly long when the cruise shipS dock.

Although both Civit and the airport are on the same side of Rome there is nt direct connection. If you are doing traveling the same day there is a stop in the L Express (starts with a T) which would allow you to catch the train to Civit.. and save a little time. The ticket agent at the airport can help with this question. We have made the trip 4 times but have always spent a couple days in Rome both before and after the cruise.

don't forget to stamp your ticket before boarding in the yellow boxes. Otherwise if an inspector asks for your ticket it can be a sizeable fine.

Civitavecchia to FCO is inexpensive and easy with the regional trains. An example is Civitavecchia 10:41 to Roma Trastevere 11:30 4.10 euros, then transfer to the FM1 train to FCO at Trastevere. Roma Trastevere 11:36 to Fiumicino Aeroporto 12:03 5.50 euros. Total cost is 9.60 and about 1.5 hours of travel time on the trains.

Go with Jeffs suggestion. Be sure to buy a round trip so you won't have to stand in lines on your return. Lots of cruise people!

When you are traveling?

Have a great time!
