I noticed that the ferries stop running at 6pm in the evenings. My husband and I are staying in Amalfi, but plan on going to Positano one day and staying for dinner. What is the best way to get back to Amalfi?
Thank you!

Sita bus runs fairly late and goes from amalfi to positiano and back
Depends on the season but runs until midnight I think in the summer, 10 pm fall and spring and 8 pm in off season
This is the easiest ash quickest way to travel between these 2 towns any time of day
Thanks, mreynolds. Yes, we will be there in a couple of weeks.
I will look up the bus stop locations.
No problem
Don't overthink it, the bus stop is completely obvious in both locations.
Top of town in Positano where you will always see others waiting and right in center of the harbor in Amalfi where likewise there will likely be a line.
These are well traveled buses and come every 20 minutes or so ; there really is no advance planning on scheduling needed.
This is the main mode of transportation on the Coastal Road and is a very fun ride! The ferry between the two would be a nicer way to travel but is more of a novelty as it is much slower and more expensive.
Main issue is that the buses can fill up, but worse case you wait for the next one.
The bus starts in Sorrento and ends in Amalfi or vice versa depending on how you look at it. There are a few stops along the way but Positano is the big one where the bus usually half empties and then fills back up again so there is no way you are going to miss your stop in either case.
The buses even have the town name in front so will say Amalfi or Sorrento depending on which direction it is going.
There is another SITA bus that runs from Amalfi to Ravello with no stops in between, be sure to take that one day as well, we thought Ravello was a real gem. Leaves from the same place in Amalfi. The gardens have an entrance fee but we felt well worth it and the views are amazing. Liked Ravello much better than town of Amalfi personally.
Have a great trip!
Thanks for the Ravello suggestion! Looking forward to visiting all of these beautiful villages!
