Travel from Peretola Airport to city centre

Hi everyone
Just wanted to know peoples experience and what is the best for travelling with luggage from the airport to downtown. What is more affordable/safer for travelling. We are going in January 2020 and have an air bnb booked already which is a 4 minute walk from the Train station

Hi,
Which train station? Santa Maria Novella or Campo di Marte? If the former (my assumption), Tram T2 now runs from the airport to Santa Maria Novella, so that would be my affordable option of choice (never tried it, it is fairly new). The airport is tiny and the tram is really next to the terminal, so no issue if you can carry your own luggage.

For the comfort and convenience of door to door service, especially for 2 or more people with luggage, you really can't beat a taxi.

The new T2 tram is the cheaper and faster transportation between the airport and the station. But being an urban tram, it is not really feasible for travel with large baggage.

It is the Santa Maria Novella train station that we will be near

I did a test ride on the T2 tram a few days ago. The cost is still 1.50 euro, but that could increase by next year. The tram is a short walk to the left as you exit the airport. and the next departure can be on either of 2 tracks. It's virtually empty when it leaves the airport so you'd get a seat, but it starts to fill up as it passes through Novelli and the university area. There are no racks, so you'd need to keep your luggage with you and not block doors and aisles. The tram stops beside the SMN station and just past it in Piazza dell'Unita. You'd want to check which of those last 2 stops is closer to the place you're staying.
