travel from Paris to FLorence

Hi All,

Im trying to get flights from Paris to Florence on May 7th.

  1. Expensive for direct morning flights with a lot of conditions (need to be able to select seat etc.).

2.Less costly ones are not direct or are basic.

  1. Thought of flying to Milan (less expensive) and taking the train to Florence but wondering if that is worth the hassle???

  2. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Has anyone traveled from Paris to Florence?

Thank you!

Have you looked at nonstop flights from Paris to Pisa. You would be about 90 minutes from Florence by bus or train.

Looks like going to Pisa would be a bit less expensive but I don’t see a nonstop. I guess it depends if your time is worth an extra $100.

From Paris to Florence (FLR) you have 2 non stop options:
Air France from Paris CDG
Vueling from Paris ORY

If you are willing to fly to Pisa PSA (about 55 miles from Florence), there are the following non stop options:
RyanAir from Paris Beauvais (BVA) about 55 miles from Paris
EasyJet from Paris ORY
Transavia from Paris ORY

Pisa is about 90 min from Florence by bus or train.

Bologna BLQ offers similar options to Pisa, and the travel time to Florence by train is less in spite of being a little farther than Pisa. But since those trains are high speed, they cost about 30€ one way, whereas the fare from Pisa (by bus or commuter train) is about 10€.

Have taken the high speed train from Paris to Florence. It was much easier than hassling with CDG and the train stop in Florence is often walkable to one’s accommodation. The train ends in Milan where you change trains onto Florence. It was about ten hours total. Very relaxing, except for hauling luggage on and off the train. I would check if you have any frequent flier programmes which partner with Air France - you never know your luck.

Thanks everyone!
The train will take too long as we need to be in Florence by late afternoon and prefer to have some extra time to play with.
I was just surprised how expensive it is to fly to Florence from Paris. Still deciding if to just pay more for the convenience of flying directly there or another nearby city then bus or train. Again, thanks for the information!

It looks like it's $268 with AirFrance or $207 with Vueling.
AirFrance to Bologna is the same price.

It's about $80-100 less if you fly Easyjet from ORY to Pisa. I wouldn't bother with RyanAir to Pisa. It's the cheapest but you have to go all the way to Beauvais to catch that flight.

The cost of the train plus people mover to Pisa Centrale would be less than 20 euro, but it's also an additional 90 min or more to go from Pisa airport to Florence. So it's your call. It's the battle of your time vs your money.

yes, but I found by the time I added cost of carry ons or a possible checked bag and changeable ticket or seat choice that adds about $100 more per ticket, so the low price has many restrictions. Thanks for all the info though. I'll continue to watch the flight prices.

Well. I'm planning to visit friends in Portland OR (about the same distance from the Bay Area as Paris to Florence) at the end of March and United or Alaska want $500 or more for a round trip (and Southwest $300). So AirFrance or Vueling don't seem so bad.

Wow! have you tried Alaska Air? I fly from Seattle to SanJose CA much less than that!

oops - I see you said Alaska already. Maybe its the day of the week you want to fly? That seems crazy high. Good luck!
