We are staying in Nocelle and need to get from there to Rome where we will spend two nights before departing for home. I am looking for suggestions for getting to Rome as efficiently as possible in order to make the most of our first day there. We will leave early in the morning and wondering if the bus to Sorrento and train to Naples and then train to Rome or maybe a ferry fromPositanto to Naples might be better. Also, not knowing when we will arrive inNaples, will we need a reswrvation for the train to Rome?
I would ferry from Pos to Salerno, and then direct train from Salerno to Rome. Looking at the schedules now, the first ferry departs Positano at 10 and arrives in Salerno around 11:10. So I would be comfortable pre-booking a train for 12 or later, assuming you are going when the weather is nice and you don't have to worry about ferry cancellations due to weather conditions.
