What is the best way to get from Naples to Sorrento? We will be traveling in May.

Take the Circumvesuviana commuter train. From Naples centrale train station it takes about an hour. This is a commuter train and makes many stops but the ride is nice.

Also in May, I will making this same trip, re-locating from Naples to Sorrento (not a day trip). I will be staying quite close to the boat harbor in Naples, and have been planning to take a mid-day ferry or hydrofoil. RS Italy makes it seem quick and easy, although pricier than the train. Does anyone have any guidance about this? Is there a choice of type of boat and schedules, and what would you suggest? Grazie indeed.

Curreri bus service might work if you are around the airport for pickup.

The Circumvesuviana station is downstairs from the main station, trains leave every 20 minutes or so.
