Travel from Naples to alfalfa coast

We'd like to travel from Naples to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast in March but found out that no ferries run in March. The roads look treacherous. Any ideas?

Pls correct the typos in your title. You may then receive more responses.

The roods are congested, driving yourself is not recommended, and public transportation modes are more primitive than in other parts of Italy. There is a "gritty" commuter train that connects Naples to Sorrento. Or you can hire an expensive private driver. Review the posts here under Italy, the posted Trip Reports, and do specific Searches here.
There is no quick and efficient mode. These type of questions regarding this area comes up a few times a week. There is significant info already posted here, but no perfect solutions. Good luck!

Start by checking online climate reports for that month. Then see if some of the hotels that interest you might have closed for the season, not all are closed. But some restaurants and businesses might close.

There are plenty of trains from Naples to Sorrento, on the gritty, crowded commuter line, the Circumvesuviana. There are government busses, run by the SITA agency, that go from the Sorrento train station to Positano and then Amalfi. In summer they are half-hourly, but tend to be full to the rafters. Don't know about March. The CIrcumvesuviana and the busses are quite cheap to ride.

You might wish to look at some of the posted LINKS in this nearby discussion, if you have not bought a travel book for this trip:

We have done that trip. Train from Naples to Sorrento where we rented an Airbnb. Options to Amalfi towns include the scheduled bus, which stops at each town from the main square in Sorrento, private driver, or car rental. Strongly recommend that you do not drive as the road is treacherous. We chose a driver service.

I have been to the Amalfi Coast several times in the month of March, and the buses run from Sorrento to Vietri Sul Mare and back several times a day.

There are not as many tourists at that time of the year, however, Easter will be in March this year, so I’m sure there will be more tourists than usual.

To get from Naples to Sorrento, you take a 1 hour and 15 minute train. The train is by far the way most tourists get down to the Amalfi Coast.

The train (from Naples) outskirts the coast and goes to Salerno. From Salerno buses depart for the Amalfi Coast. In the (very short) off-season, it is quicker to go from Sorrento on the bus all the way down to Vietri, than it is to go from Naples to Salerno on the train, land then turn around and go north again on the bus.
