I will be taking the ferry from Lipari in to Milazzo and need to travel to Palermo all on a Sunday. It looks like there is only one train very late at night and no buses. Any suggestions on how to get back to Palermo mid day on a Sunday without breaking the bank?

I think you may have not changed the clock when you looked for trains. I set the clock for a Sunday at 6am and found at least three trains from Milazzo to Palermo.

My ferry gets in at 11 am but the earliest train looks like it leaves at 4:30 pm. Hoping for earlier time to leave Milazzo. It looks like there are no buses on Sunday?

Bus service in Sicily on Sundays is pretty poor, that's one thing to watch out for.
