I will be traveling from Milan to Samedan, Switzerland early next month. My question involves the initial leg of the trip, from Milan to Tirano.
The Trenord regional train, which travels (in part) along the eastern shore of Lake Como, takes about 2.5 hours.
I see that it is also possible to take a train from Milan to Lugano and transfer to the Bernina Express Bus to Tirano. This trip looks to be about two hours longer. However, I am told that the bus ride is quite scenic.
So, my question is whether the longer trip via Lugano is sufficiently more scenic to justify the additional travel time. Any suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
