After arriving in Milan by air, we are trying to decide whether or not to rent a car and drive to Monaco or take a train. (We only plan on spending two nights in Monaco and then will travel back to Italy to stay at the new Marriott resort in Barga for four days.)
From what we can tell, we would have to change trains at the French border but are not sure of how much hassle that is?
If driving, I see there are tolls along the way; plus with the cost of gas we are not sure how it would compare in cost to train travel. Google drive time says it is around a three hour drive. Not sure of how hard a drive it would be.
We have also read where it is a hassle to get out of Milan...either by train or by car. Has anyone ever made this trip from Milan to Monaco either by car or by train?
