Travel from Livorno port to Pisa (and possibly Lucca)

I know this has been asked before, but I feel like things have recently changed so I'm hoping to get more up to date input from people who have cruised within the past year... I am looking for a balance between inexpensive options and time savings...
And I know about Tuscanybus, but their transfer service isn't until 1030, and our boat docks at 7 so I don't want to waste that many hours doing nothing.
Is there a free port shuttle that takes us from Livorno port to the city center? If not, how much is it? What is the schedule? Can you walk it instead?
Also, where does it drop you?
I remember reading that although taking a train to Pisa is faster, it's more time consuming to get to the train station so we should just take the bus. True?

If we go to Lucca, what is the best way?
And then the best way to go straight from Lucca to Livorno port?
Thanks in advance!

You can't walk from the ship into Livorno because the port is a working industrial one. You need to take a shuttle. Have a look at the What's in Port website, or the Italy section of the Cruise Critic Ports of Call forum for more details.

Thanks, Cjean! That website looks good. Do you know if it's up to date? Because this website says the port shuttle drops you off at Piazza Grande and another website says it drops you at Piazza Municipio.

Haven't docked in Livorno since the lock down, so don't know how up to date it is. Might want to double check with the POC forum on Cruise Critic, or ask on the Cruise Critic forum for your cruise line.
