Travel From Lake Orta to Milan Malpensa Airport

We need to get from Lake Orta in Italy (Orta San Giulio) to Milan Malpensa Airport. I'd prefer to just arrange for a private pick-up instead of trying to get to the airport by train. I came across the following pick-up service: Shuttle Direct https://www.shuttledirect.com/en/ which seems to offer a great, seamless pick-up service right from our hotel straight to the airport for a fairly reasonable cost. Has anyone used this company before and what was your experience?

Thanks

Gord

Check with your hotel, a regular taxi may be less expensive.

At the end of my RS tour, I took a taxi to the train station - very short ride.
"Trained" to Milano (I think there was 1 train change)..... it was several years ago.
But I remember it was very easy.
Did an overnight in Milan near the Central Train station and then train in the AM
to fly home. I always stay very close to the central train station in Milan.
Either the Hotel Berna or Garda (they are across the street from each other and
only a couple blocks from the Central train station.)

Thanks for your responses. Yes we will be on a RS Tour (Village Italy) in September that ends at Lake Orta. We are staying on in Lake Orta for one extra night at the tour hotel, after the tour. Our flight leaves Milan the following day in the late afternoon. I just checked the itinerary for that tour and on the last day of the tour the website states that the guide will help to coordinate transportation to Malpensa Airport, so perhaps we should not book anything at all right now and let things unfold at the end of the tour. I think I would much rather take a taxi though rather than do the train thing. For a few extra dollars the convenience of a door to door service is well worth it to me, and if this can be arranged through the guide or hotel at the end of the tour then perhaps that is best. Any other thoughts?
Thanks

I was at Lake Orta last summer and took the train into Milano Centrale. It was an easy trip with one transfer at Novara, but on that day I wasn't headed on to the airport, which I believe requires a transfer to a bus at Milano Centrale.

When I arrived ten days earlier at MXP, my host/Italian teacher picked me up in her private car. It was only a 30 minute trip to her house in Borgomanero (between Lake Orta and the airport), so I don't think a taxi would be too outrageous, especially for more than one person. Malpensa is only 50 km/31 miles from Lake Orta. I'd agree with your comment to wait and let the guide help you arrange what you want, and then don't fuss with the train and bus connections if you don't want to. I assume the guide knows what works and what doesn't, and what it should cost, better than us.

I would wait to book. We stayed an extra night and our VI guide organized everything for us and the other folks that stayed an extra night. I'll have to tell you though, a full extra day was really too much in Orta. In retrospect I wish we had gotten the transfer for later in the afternoon of the day where the tour ends in the AM so we had the morning and lunch, then spent that night in Milano. My opinion could have been colored by the fact it was raining buckets both days.

This is a really fun tour! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
