I am trying to find a way to get from Fussen Germany to Venice Italy WITHOUT having to go all the way back to Munich. Driving (renting a car) is too pricey with the cross country tolls and I can't find bus or train routes that go from Fussen to Venice - Any ideas?
You can't find them because they aren't there.
You have to backtrack to Munich. Munich - Venice.
If you can get to Reutte in Austria you could take the slow train from there to Innsbruck, Innsbruck - Venice.
Check to see if there's a car rental in Garmisch where you could return the car. Then take a bus into Innsbruck where you could catch the train thru the Brenner Pass and into Northern Italy.
Regional bus #74 runs about every two hours between Fuessen train station (or Pulverturm stop) and Reutte train station. You can see it reflected on DB train schedules if you search that route specifically.
You don't save any time going via Reutte, and have to change trains more times. Going back via Munich at 8:05 with train changes at Kaufbeuren and Munich is the quickest and cheapest. 9 hours and 59.90 EUR with a Sparpreis ticket bought at least a month in advance.
Thank you everyone for your speedy replies!
