Travel from Florence to Positano

Hello,

We are currently in Florence and are planning to travel to Positano this tuesday, May 19th. We purchased a 4 country eurorail pass, do we need to make a reservation for the train? We know realize the pass is only good for certain trains! We were thinking of taking the train to Naples and then bus or private car to Positano. Does anyone have any advice for that portion? Including prices?

I know this questions has been asked before but I could find it in the thread. Sorry for duplication.

With a railpass you will need to reserve seats on the fast trains (usually averages $10 -$15 per person).

Perhaps someone else can chime in with suggestions for a private car from Naples to Positano. I know there are suggestions in Rick's book though for private drivers who can drive you to the Amalfi coast/Positano.

Does the train go to Salerno? If so, I would do that. You can catch the ferry, (Coop Sant'angelo.it) 10 minutes walk from the train station. It will take you for a beautiful ride to Positano..I think about an hour, you will see the Amalfi coast from the sea!

What you will need to do though..is contact your hotel in Positano and have a porter meet you at the ferry dock to take your luggage to the hotel (if it's too far up to carry, which many are).
