Travel from Florence to Pisa

Last time I was in Italy there were mass demonstrations in Pisa, so I decided to forgo my trek there. Any tips on train or bus tickets from Florence and how to obtain tickets to the Leaning tower and the Duomo? Thank you everyone. Great forum!

It's just an easy hour's train ride over to Pisa.

The Pisa Airport is popular, but many incoming take the train from Pisa to Florence without seeing the tower or the duomo. Sometimes time is better spent seeing other Tuscan travel sights.

It's very easy to obtain train tickets to Pisa. Go to the station (Firenze SMN?), buy your ticket from one of the Kiosks, validate before boarding the train and you're on your way (the train will probably be a Regionale). If you're just planning to visit the Tower and not do any sightseeing in Pisa, as I recall the Pisa San Rossore station is closer than Pisa Centrale.

I can't remember the details about tickets for the Tower, but hopefully one of the others will be able to provide that information.

Canwego,

You can book you tickets for the tower & duomo here: http://www.opapisa.it

It's a good idea to book your tickets in advance, especially for the tower, so you don't have to wait too long.
Make sure you get to the tower a few minutes before the time on your ticket.
They only allow 20-30 people to go up at a time. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy the view for about 5-10 minutes before being ushered down the spiral stairs.

Have a wonderful trip!

I just bought the tickets for the tower and it would not give me an option for the time? It says 9 am on printed ticket which we can not make. Is it possible to show up later? Very confusing. Also I wanted to buy an extra ticket to the baptistery and it would not let me either though I clicked on it. Maybe someone can help me ..thanks

I don't know if it's an option for you or not but last time we were there we drove from the Chianti region to Pisa and it wasn't a bad drive at all.
