Travel from Cascia to Assisi

I am having difficulty finding the best route from Cascia to Assisi. I understand that buses (only) will take you to and from Cascia from the train station, but I'm not sure which train station would be best to take to Assisi. Our plan is to take the train and bus into Cascia from Rome, do a day trip in Cascia, then head to Assisi. We will not have a car. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

A quick Google search gave me this page which lists the nearest train stations and gives information on bus schedules. The page lists one early morning direct bus from Rome Tiburtina to Cascia.

The trains from Rome to Assisi stop at both Terni and Spoleto. Either of those stops appear to have bus routes to Cascia from the train station. Once in Cascia, the Spoleto train station would be about 30 minutes closer to Assisi. Alternatively, there is a bus from the large bus station across the street from the Rome-Tiburtina train station that goes to Cascia with a stop in Terni according to the information provided by Tim above. Note that the bus runs are only two a day and the trains are more frequent. The train station is not really in Assisi but the sign in in the train station does say "Assisi". I have a picture of it. You will need to take a bus there as well to travel about 5 minutes or so up to the hilltown. As Assisi comes into sight, you will see the Basillica of St. Frances. There's a bus stop just outside the train station and you can buy tickets in the little store next door.
