How long is a non-stop flight from Atlanta to Venice Italy? If we are leaving on a cruise, how many days before the cruise date should we fly (in other words, if we cruise on July 3, should we fly on July 2 or on July 1)? Thank you!

Delta flies direct from Atlanta to Venice. You should check the Delta website for exact departure/arrival times and the duration of the flight. You will depart in the evening and arrive in the morning, flight will be about 9 or 10 hours. As to when you should arrive, depends on exactly what time you need to be on the boat. If the boat leaves in the late afternoon, then you could arrive the same day and have plenty of time to get from the airport to your boat.

A flight leaving July 2nd would probably get you there on time to start a cruise on July 3rd, but I wouldn't risk it. It is too complicated and expensive to try to catch up with a missed departure. Does the cruise spent any time in port? For example, boarding on July 3rd but not departing until July 4th? Have you been to Venice before? If not, it would be a shame to be in the city and not see it. I would recommend booking a hotel for at least 3 nights to really see Venice before departing on your cruise. We stayed 5 nights last summer and loved it.
