Can I take a bus from Fiumicno Airport to Sorrento ???
Nancy, I don't think that you can get a bus from FCO to Sorrento. However, there is the Marozzi bus company that has a bus run once a day Mon-Thur at 3PM from the Rome Tiburtina train station to Sorrento (Fri-Sun 7AM). To get to this train station, you take the Leonardo express train from FCO to Rome Termini and then transfer to Metro Line B heading to Rebibbia. Tiburtina is the 4th stop.
The alternate and more popular way to get there is to go into Rome Termini, take the Trenitalia train to Naples. Transfer to the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento. This entire journey will take close to 4hrs. All 3 trains mentioned here run frequently during the day.
Thank you so VERY much Larry. I had wanted to avoid Naples as Rick Steves said it was an unsafe place to leave the train from Rome and get on the train to Sorrento so that is why I wanted the bus. BUT I arrive in Rome airport at 7:30 am and would waste an entire day waiting for the 3:00 bus so I have already printed the train schedule for Rome to Sorrento. Then I check in and take the Sita bus to Positano where I left my heart a year ago. So Thanks, Nancy
Nancy, I'm not sure Rick said Naples is "an unsafe place to leave the train from Rome and get on the train to Sorrento," since that's how he recommends people get from Rome to Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Sorrento. It's not a very nice train station, but if you bustle along like you know what you're doing, you should be just fine. I've run into more pick-pockets in the Paris Metro than I have at the Naples train station.
