my family and I are visiting relatives in Calabria, then traveling up the Amalphi coast. Since we will be in Italy during Holy Week (Palm Sunday to Easter), will sites be more crowded, will hotels be harder to book, will we be able to get any seaside accomodations? Any advice would be appreciated

Holy Week and Italy: I'd say the answers to those 2 questions are: yes and yes.
Holy week in any largely "Catholic" country is awesome. Yes, popular sights will be crowded and there will, of course, be closures on Thursday (perhaps) certainly Good Friday and probably Sat/Sun. Here's where the relatives come in. Use them to research/book hotels or, if there is a language problem, book ahead via the internet. You will have a special experience. As a devoted traveler I found the small town local parades of the saints/Holy Mother etc. very spiritually moving...and this is from a rather old school Methodist. Wonderful time to visit Italy.
