Travel Distances from Murlo to Tuscan HillTowns

Hello, we are thinking of staying at a farmhouse in Murlo outside of the village of Casciano near Montepescani. It says its approximate 38 miles from Siena and it doesn't look far on the map BUT seemingly that is not the case. I am gathering there is a lot of country roads that makes the journey to the hill towns longer. We want to stay in the country and it sounds perfect for us ( especially price) but if it will take a good few hours getting out of Murlo to our destination each day I am thinking to stay closer to Siena.
I would appreciate your views especially if you have stayed in the Murlo region

According to www.viamichelin.com/ it's only some 25 kilometres to Siena and about the same distance to the hill towns south, such as Montalcino and Pienza. It looks perfectly central to me.

It seems to take 35-40 minutes by car.

What is the exact name and address of the farmhouse? Some might say near Murlo or near whatever only to discover later that you have to travel half mile along pot holed dirt driveway at 2 mph, so that it takes you 15 minutes just to get on the actual roadway.
The distance from Murlo to Siena is just over 30 km (don't forget they use the metric system outside the US) and 30 km is 18 miles. However the average speed in many Tuscan mountain highways is not going to be more than, at best, 50km/h (30mph) therefore those 30+ km (20 miles) can easily turn into 40 min driving.

Thank you for your comments.
And Roberto I think you have addressed what I have heard on some reviews.
The name of the place is:
Fattoria Casabianca,53016 Murlo.
My husbands fear is that this is indeed way out in the beyond and it will take a long ride just to get to a road that will get us to the hill towns we want to visit. From what I hear it's 2 km from our room to the main house at the farm house for breakfast? That is ok. but it's the actual driving time that I was wondering to other hills
Thanks

I would try to get more information. Roberto describes well a situation we experienced, only ours was a little worse. We were invited to spend some time at a villa rented by a friend. The drive to the road was not just unpaved and deeply rutted; it was winding and covered with large rocks. It took 20 minuites to get to the paved road, mostly bouncing around in 1st gear. Then, it took another 20 minutes on the curvy 2-lane road to get to the autostrada. That 80 minutes of challenging driving each day got old really fast.
The "perfect" price you mention may conceal a serious drawback. Our stay was free to us, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much.

Good luck!
From that Agriturismo Fattoria Casabianca, just to leave the place, you will have to drive an unpaved dirt private road for about 2 km (1.2 miles) to get you to the village of Montepescini where you will be on a paved country road (not really a highway), which is paved but very narrow (basically one lane wide, although it will be a two way road). That road will have virtually no traffic, but be careful at night because it will be dark. Once on that narrow paved road at Montepescini you will drive 4 km (2.5 miles) on that narrow road until you reach a decent 2 lane highway the rest of the way to Siena, another 30+ km (20 miles) away. So it's a bit over 40 km to Siena altogether, and it will take you about 40 min each way. But the 6 km (3.5 miles) closest to the farmhouse will be on narrow road, with 2 km, (1.2 miles) on dirt private road.

Much appreciated. I will share this with my husband who will be the driver on this trip. I do not want to make this a hassle to drive and I also worry about the car we are renting. I had a feeling that 46Euro per night came with a hitch? That price sure looks good and there was good reviews for room and breakfast :(

You can get a really good idea of what the roads are like around that agriturismo by searching on Google Maps and using Streetview. The Google camera car didn't go all the way to the agriturismo, but it did go down the gravel/dirt road a good bit. Now picture it in the rain.
