I am planning to visit Italy (Rome Venice Florence Milan and more) from Sept 18,2012 to Oct 22,2012 Is this a good time to travel?

That is essentially "back to school time" here (school starts much later than in the States), and the weather is cooling down a bit by that point. Also, while there will still be pretty large crowds in Rome (the other cities won't be as hectic), it is dwindling from the summer highs. Don't get me wrong: there will still be A LOT of tourists here then, but not as much as during the peak of the summer season.

Kid, YES, absolutely! That's basically "fall shoulder season", so that's a great time to travel. There are never any guarantees with the weather, but it should be reasonably good. Be sure you're prepared for the rain though. Happy travels!
