Travel Clarifications

My wife and I will be traveling to Italy this fall. We are on the My Way Italy in 13 Says Tour. In the Itinerary it shows , for travel between towns, bus/train and bus/ boat options for trips between towns. Venice to Lake Como: Boat 1/2 hour, Bus 5 Hours. Italian Riviera to Florence: Train 1/4 hour, bus 3 hours.

Are these options provided by the tour? Is taking boat/train better options than bus? Has anyone taken the alternate options?

Questions about your tour logistics are best asked of the tour office or tour manager as nobody from the tours frequents this forum.

You can use this forum to ask for info and advice about planning the independent parts of your trip., as well as utilizing the help from your tour manager.

Enjoy!

Those aren't options, sometimes traveling between points involves more than one mode of transit. You'll do all of them, consecutively, with the rest of the group.

I wouldn't say that. I do think logistical questions are probably best asked through the tour office/mgr, but there are a number of frequent posters here who regularly take RS tours. Not all do, of course, but if you do have a question about a tour, you can always ask it in the Rick Steves Tour forum. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/tours

Right. As Liz said above, sometimes travel to the next overnight destination will involve more than one form of transport. For instance, from the Italian Riviera to Florence, you'll be taking a short, 1/4 hr. train ride to a place where the group will board a bus for the 3-hour ride to your hotel in Florence. Descriptions of how you'll be traveling from place-to-place aren't "options" and are covered by your tour price.

Once arrived at a destination, how you choose to get around for your sightseeing (on foot or using assorted forms of public transport) will be up to your own choice, and neither organized by nor covered under your tour price. Make sense? Are we misunderstanding your question?

Thanks
You are right
I should have said “nobody from the tour office”
Of course there are many tour veterans here
I just don’t frequent that particular forum much so didn’t even think of it
