My cruise returns to citavecchia 8am oct 15. Rather than take train into Rome and connect to Naples and then sorrento has anyone used car service of any kind. I assume cost is about 150 euros, any help greatly appreciated. Thank you, Steve

Most car services cost about 135-150 Euro just from Citavecchia to the airport in Rome. No idea how much to Positana. Check www.romecabs.com. It is a car service we have used many times in and around Rome and have always been very happy with the service. TC

steve, Although I've never used one, I suspect the cost of a private car service from Civitavecchia to Positano will be considerably more than €150, given the distance and other factors. If you have a very generous travel budget that may be an option, but unfortunately travel by train and / or Bus is the reality for most travellers. One other option you could consider would be to take the train from Roma Termini to Salerno, and then travel either by boat, Bus or private car to Positano. If you can connect with one of the Jets, the trip should be under an hour. There are some direct trains (no changes) from Rome to Salerno with travel times as short as 1H:59M (Base fare currently €46 PP). Use the excellent Ron In Rome website for information on the best way to get from Civitavecchia to Roma Termini. Happy travels!
