Travel book recommendations for Turin and Dolomites

Hello. Would appreciate recommendations for good travel books for Turin and Dolomites. I'm considering to purchase:

Turin: "Turin Eyewitness Travel Guide" (2005 edition), I do not believe their is a newer edition. Also looking to purchase "Blue Guide Piedmont Paperback" (2017 edition).

Dolomites: Planning to visit Seceda, Lago di Braies, Alpe di Siusi and Val Garden. Most time Val Gardena, which is the valley leading to Seceda and Alpe di Siusi. Books I am considering are "Shorter Walks in the Dolomites (Cicerone Guide)" (2015 edition) and "Walking in Italy's Val Gardena: 23 Easier Walks in the Dolomites near Ortisei, Selva, and Santa Cristina" (2022 edition)

Thank you.

I have the Shorter Walks book and “short” is relative. It does give you a wide variety of hikes.

You can't go wrong with Blue Guide. I've used Cicerone for other areas. They are solid.

I'd not be too worried about an older book, but you might need to double check opening times occasionally and stuff like that. You might check to see if you can download a Turin chapter somewhere. I just did a fruitless search, but I could have sworn i had downloaded chapters from Lonely Planet in the past!

OK, not a guidebook, but if you are visiting the Dolomites, I really recommend Beneath A Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan. Will teach you so much about the region and its history during WWII in a way that a traditional guidebook can't.

Travel Bug: I highly recommend "Walking in Italy's Val Gardena: 23 Easier Walks in the Dolomites," written by Laurel Barton, who is a valued contributor on this Forum.
I had the earlier edition of this book for our 2017 trip to the Dolomites, so was not sure I needed the newer edition for our upcoming trip. After all I figured the hikes would be the same.

Well, I did buy the newer edition and am so glad because there are "live links" embedded in each hike. The book also includes travel advice, lodging info, valuable links and bus routes and schedules.

Also note that Youtube is full of travel vlogs of the Dolomites.

You should not buy the 2005 edition of ANY travel book.
