Does anyone have an opinion about the best/most economical way to go to Paris from Rome? We will be taking a RS tour that ends in Rome, but would like to have a few days in Paris before coming home

Fly! Easyjet & RyanAir offer cheap flights. Be sure to check the luggage weight restrictions because if you exceed the weight you will pay a lot in surcharges.

I would say EasyJet over RyanAir. Easyjet flies to the two main airports (DeGualle and Orly) while RyanAir flies to Beavauis, which is basically out in the middle of the countryside. After all, it's quite easy to take public transit from either of Paris's two main airports to the city center, Beauvais requires a longer bus ride.

Look at Vueling also , I am flying one way Paris Rome with them,they have very good reveiws and use CDG and FCO , which are the easiest airports to use public transport to and from ( Orly is good too, as noted, Beauvais is least conveninent)
