travel between countries during pandemic

Does anyone know if it is necessary to get covid tested before entering a country by train. Flying into Switzerland, but traveling to Italy and France by train. Also changing planes in Heathrow - is that considered coming into the country???
Wondering if we should delay travel yet another year! Not getting any younger and definitely getting older!!! Hate covid for ruining my retirement! Janis

Hi Janis,

Last summer I flew into Munich and took the train to Italy. I was only required to show my proof of vaccination (and the conductor did ask for it) and my country registration. The latter is very country-specific so I'd check with the country you are planning to travel to. Some like Italy had their own sites/forms and others like Spain had a more general European version.

Each country can have its own policies regarding transfering by air thru another country, and it can change, so you need to check official government sites on a regular basis.

You may/not be checked crossing borders by train, but you also need to research requirements to enter restaurants/indoor facilities in each country, which can also change.

GOOD LUCK AND SAFE TRAVELS!
