How easy is the metro system in Milan for travel to various tourists sites? Plan to take the train twice while vacationing for a week but most of travel will be around the city of Milan.

My wife and I were in Milan for four nights and three days in April. Metro is fast, cheap, clean with seemingly pickpockets around every corner (That may be an exaggeration.) However, there were three separate attempts to pick our pockets, and one was successful, which was totally my fault. (see my trip report filed under trip reports just a few days ago). Anyway, stay alert, watch for multi-member groups entering together and strive to confuse or draw your attention elsewhere and move away from the doors and more to the middle of the cars. If it works for you, try the tram system. So much more relaxing, and pleasant, albeit much slower. Enjoy Milan!!!!!!
