Use trenitalia to check the trains. They are cheap and very easy to use: http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=c79686605528a110VgnVCM1000003f16f90aRCRD Just enter your cities, a date within 7 days of today and change the time to an early hour. The options will pop up. Donna
You'll probably need to take a bus from San Gimi to Poggibonsi. The bus schedule for Route 130 R can be found at www.trainspa.it. From Poggibonsi there are frequent trains that connect in Florence. It looks like it is about 3.5 to 4 hr trip. It might also work to take a bus directly to Florence and then train from there. I used Google maps alot to plan directions using public transportation. The SITA bus system has a bus route from San G. to Florence. www.sitabus.it. Most likely, you will change buses in Poggibonsi. Once in the SITA bus station in Florence, you are about 1,000 feet (300 meters) from the main Florence train station. You'll need to walk between the two stations. From there, take the high-speed train to Milan. The train runs between Florence and Milan are frequent and you can find the schedules on www.trenitalia.com.
